Charge Richard Wilson Preston with attempted murder.

On August 12, 2017, in Charlottesville, Virginia, a vocal white supremacist terrorist named Richard Wilson Preston fired upon an anti-racist protester following a verbal altercation. On August 28th Preston was charged with discharging a firearm within 1,000 feet of a school, and NOT with attempted murder. Given the clear video evidence of Preston doing nothing less than attempting murder, the replacement of a Class 2 felony charge punishable by up to 20 years in prison with a Class 4 penalty charge punishable by just up to 10 years in prison is an indication of favoritism for a white supremacist terrorist and of willful disregard for the letter of the law.
We ask the Commonwealth Attorney City of Charlottesville to come to his senses on this issue, and to correct this egregious understatement of Preston's crime before the laws of Charlottesville, the Commonwealth of Virginia, and the United States of America. We elect officials to prosecute those who invade our communities to engage in terrorist activities, not to slap them on the wrist. Charge Richard Wilson Preston with attempted murder, now!
