Save Chicago's Carriage Horses

Our Chicago carriage horses are an iconic part of our vibrant city of Chicago.   A carriage ride provides residents and tourists the opportunity to see the city from a different perspective, and provides jobs and homes for the carriage horses.  The carriage industry is a local economic driver, as the industry provides jobs (farriers, veterinarians, trainers, grooms, drivers) and the industry requires local bulk purchase of goods (hay, grain, wood).

The horses in Chicago are strictly regulated to ensure their welfare.  They are happy and healthy.

We disagree that pulling a carriage is a cruel and unhealthy practice for a horse and oppose banning or severely limiting the operation of carriages in Chicago.

We encourage the Chicago City Council to continue to allow carriage rides as currently permitted under the law.
