The father of a fallen soldier wants shamed former Featherstone Mayor Roy Bickerton’s name and others to be removed from the town’s new war memorial.

Bill Mulroe, 70, believes the memorial should be reserved solely for the names of those who died serving their country.

There should be no place on war memorials for Mayor's names and advertisements for those who helped build them, especially when the Mayor in question was treasurer of Featherstone War Memorial Garden Group Committee when it was constructed and admitted false accounting in relation to falsifying invoices for the memorial

Letter to
Featherstone War Memorial Committee
remove the names of civilians and any businesses from the main war memorial that have not died while serving in the forces, these people are still alive and should not even be on a commemorative memorial as it is not a living memorial, no person should use the Main Memorial to advertise there businesses next to our war dead. Remembrance Day we honor the fallen and pay homage to the lost lives of our brave men and women, not over inflated egos that would not even be here if it were not for these brave that gave their lives so they could appreciate the freedoms of today!
