Central Stories Museum & Art Gallery was paid for by the people of Alexandra.  The building was built to house  the Information Centre, Art Gallery and  Performing Arts  .Our beautiful building was created on reserve land with much effort for the benefit of Central Otago residents!

The purpose of this petition is to return Central Stories to its original intended function :

1/ The Information Centre to be returned to Central Stories (Its rightful Home )And back to its original position in Central Stories .The Museum Volunteers have offered to run the Information Centre and their offer should be accepted !

2/ All areas are entitled to preserve their history as they see fit ,however If  new Museums are to be built in Clyde and Cromwell they should be paid for by Clyde and Cromwell rate payers and not  Alexandra rate payers !

3/ There should be a line of funding established to fund Central Stories in line with most Museums and such Facilities in NZ as it is very hard to attract staff and plan with only annual funding .

4/ Central stories has been under funded for most of its existence so can the council please explain how the building of new Museums in Clyde and Cromwell will be paid for and also please explain how the running costs of the new Museums will be funded ?

4/ Each person standing for the local body election this year in the Vincent Community Board area and for Mayor to state if they will support this petition.
