Wandsworth council: Act now to support local people at risk of debt and homelessness

Recent news

Two campaign sucesses already!

Thank you for signing the petition on the Universal Credit roll out in Wandsworth - 319 people have signed it too. We're writing to update you on two campaign successes already. The first is that we had a phone meeting with Cllr Simon Hogg, Leader of Wandsworth Labour. It was a positive conversation and recognised the need for more support for residents affected by Universal Credit, both in terms of advice services especially on using IT and on budgeting, and using discretionary payments from the Council during the start-up stages of Universal Credit, to prevent hardship and homelessness. The second campaign success is that Cllr Ravi Govindia, Leader of Wandsworth Council and Wandsworth Conservatives, has also agreed to meet us. We'll be meeting him on Friday and will report back to you. More signatures to this petition will show that lots of local people care about this issue, so please could you share it with friends and family as much as possible today and tomorrow? Can you help us get to 500 people? Together we can make sure the council takes urgent steps to stop the rise in debt and homelessness that happened in other areas when Universal Credit started. Thanks again! Wandsworth Foodbanks Citizens Advice Wandsworth South West London Law Centre Katherine Low Settlement
