We are starting this petition in support for Justin Camp a 13 year old (now 17yrs. old) African American male being charged as an adult in Walton County Superior Court in Monroe, GA. Justin has been charged with 7 felonies and faces 25 years to Life. Justin was Mirandirized and questioned without his mother’s permission on the night of the alleged crime. Justin has been deemed incompetent and non-restorable 5 times meaning he does not understand the charges against him, he can not assist his attorney with his defense and he's too young to assist in his case. Justin currently has a paid attorney after having a public defender twice and another paid attorney which neither is or has fought to get him due process or protection of his civil rights. Neither has explored options of rehabilitation versus incarceration. Justin has been incarcerated for over 3years. Justin is currently in Greenville, Ga. at a facility where he has been for over 2yrs. where they are training him on competency 4 hours daily in order for him to regain competency to go to trial for the alleged charges. Justin is a diabetic type 1 and has been deprived of snacks, phone calls, sometimes visitation from his parents. Since January 2018, things at the facility has improved BUT Justin is looking to finally be joined with his family after three long and difficult years. Since being held, Justin has loss(by death) his maternal grandmother, his fraternal great grandmother, his uncle, his 18yr. old cousin, and four close friends. We are asking for support from family, friends, friends of family, friends of friends, the media, etc. to help get the word out about Justin's case. We need support and people to sign this petition in support to FREE JUSTIN! We're not claiming innocence nor guilt but what we are saying is Justin should have equal rights and opportunities as other juveniles in his same county has been given. Let’s NOT railroad him but provide REHABILITATION V/S INCARCERATION!! Let him receive any treatment that necessary so that his life is wasted because juveniles can be given a second chance to prove that being held as Justin, can be a lesson learned especially with his parents, siblings, family, friends, Pastor, and church members assistance.
Please sign and share to bring awareness to this injustice to juveniles!!
