Dear Friends,

An application has been made to the Walton County Planning and Development Division for a proposed development of single family residences with request for approval to subdivide 7.75 +/- acres into 31 single family residences.  The project is located in a residential area on Mussett Bayou Rd. approximately 0.9 miles north of Highway 98E. On February 9, 2017 in the South Walton Courthouse Annex located at 31 Coastal Centre Boulevard, Suite 100, Santa Rosa Beach, FL, at 5:00 PM, the Planning Commission will decide whether to approve, approve with conditions, or to deny the development and that decision will then be sent to the Board of County Commissioners at a public hearing on March 14, 2017.  Local residents foresee many issues with the development including but not limited to issues with compatibility to the neighboring residences, inability to market and sell homes so tightly packed together with 31 lots divided over 7 acres, issues with traffic patterns including the possible increase in population without corresponding traffic lights and numerous other issues.  As residents of Walton County, we understand that we cannot stop development but we need to ask ourselves what kind of mindful development do we want for our area?  As drafted, this planned development is not compatible with surrounding areas and would be detrimental to the long term plan for our community.  Please sign the petition asking the Planning Commission to deny or lesser, approve with conditions, the development as currently planned.
