Waltham Forest Council: publish fire safety plans for Fred Wigg & John Walsh towers

0 have signed. Let’s get to 500!

As residents of Cann Hall, many of us live in, or in the shadow of, the Fred Wigg and John Walsh Towers.

These towers are about to start undergoing extensive renovations, with new buildings going up around them. Waltham Forest Council are already moving residents out of their homes to start the works, but they haven’t published the plans. We know the towers are staying up and getting more than just a refurbishment but we don’t what they plan to do on fire safety.

In 2014, consultation documents appeared to show new cladding added as part of the proposed "transformation". They did not talk about fire safety.

In the wake of the tragedy at Grenfell Tower, WFC needs to reassure residents of Fred Wigg and John Walsh, and all of the surrounding houses, that the towers will meet the highest fire safety standards after the works.

We are calling on Waltham Forest Council to publish the plans, and to confirm to everyone affected that:
1. No cladding will be added to the building unless it is 100% non-flammable and meets the highest safety standards
2. Sprinklers will be added to the towers as part of the refurbishment - something the towers don't yet have
