I am devastated after hearing the plans to close Acorns Hospice Walsall due to lack of funding. 70% of the money needed to run the three hospices ran by Acorns is funded by fundraising and donations. The lack of government support is disgusting, Acorns is a hospice that provides amazing quality support for both children who are battling life threatening and/or limiting conditions and their families. Support that my family have experienced first hand.

In 2011 my little sister Isla  was born with a condition called Edwards Syndrome or Trisomy 18. We were told she wouldn't have long with us and that we were lucky she survived birth. We were told she wouldn't be able to smile or crawl. But with the help and support from Acorns Hospice Walsall and Russell's Hall hospital we made the best memories with Isla. We managed to take her swimming and to the beach - things we once thought would be impossible for Isla. We could never get Isla to stop smiling too! Isla fought for an amazing 22 months and Acorns support continued for many years after. As a family I truly don't know where we would be without the support from Acorns, which is why I'm devastated at the news that the Walsall hospice is closing. The fact that families in similar situations to ours will not be able to receive the support from Acorns is extremely upsetting for me. If you can please sign this petition for more government support for hospices like Acorns. I would also like to urge you to write to the Prime Minster adressing this issue at:

10 Downing Street
London
SW1A 2AA

Please share and do all you can to save this wonderful hospice.
