Emma DeMarco started this petition to Walmart and

Plastic is killing our Earth. There are so many different kinds of plastic apart of it- water bottles, straws, bags, toys, and some much more. In total each year, about 8 tons of plastic are thrown into the oceans (not including what's on the streets). By 2020 it is said that the amount of plastic in the ocean is set to increase tenfold. By 2050, there is going to be more plastic in the ocean than fish (in weight). If we don't act fast who knows what's going to be left of our marine life? There are many ways to fix this situation. The main plastic source that I want to remove from the oceans is plastic bags. Almost every store you go to will give you a plastic bag to put your purchases in. Many people throw these bags out, lose them, or they get lost in the wind. Instead of giving out plastic bags, stores could give out reusable paper or canvas bags. Yes, these bags can be more expensive to make, but the stores won't have to make as many because people can bring back in their reuseable bags each time they come. If we can get stores to start promoting reusable bags, we can cut down on the amount of plastic that is in the ocean. If we all work together we can save the oceans and all of our wildlife in the oceans. Act fast!
