The fish in Walmart's "Pet Care" are unkempt in horrible living conditions. Fish are forced to live in large quantities in small tanks with little food and and filthy water conditions. Many of the fish tank filters are clogged with the corpses of other fish which the still living or sick fish will have to continue to live and eat in for weeks if not longer. In one tank a fish skeleton was found eaten and the remains littered the tank. These conditions are intoleralbe for any animal and they deserve a quality of life. Walmart is a large company that is not hurting for profit and money does not equal the price of life, ANY LIFE.

Letter to
Eduardo Castro-Wright, President & CEO of Walmart Stores/Supercenters USA
Hello. I would just like to express my disappointment in your live fish and aquatics. I see so many dead fish every time I come in that it is very gross. Why sell animals that you cannot care for correctly? The buyer looks to the seller to be the ones who know what they are doing- most of the people working in your fish department are uneducated on any of the specific needs of the fish. It is quite apparent. I would like to please, beg you, to stop selling fish, and any other animal for that matter. They are ill, dying, or dead. If you talk to anyone they will tell you "Don't buy fish from Walmart- they all die." which is quite the truth. I don't know if they are sick from the day you get them, or if your employees make them so, but it is unacceptable. Overstocked tanks are found in every fish store- but yours are just ridiculous and not maintained well at all. Please consider what I have said. Why sell animals that die so fast, and everyone knows not to buy them from you? Fish are live animals that deserve to be taken care of, not allowed to languish in filthy conditions.
