The residents at the Long Hill Rd and Ward St Ext intersection experience reckless driving on a regular basis. Around 4:00am a silver BMW collided straight into my neighbors guardrail and drove away. This collision left behind a pile of oil trailing down Long Hill Rd and continued towards center street.

Aside from this incident there are numerous cars who do not stop, or do not notice that the traffic coming from Ward St Ext doesn’t have a stop sign. On a daily basis there are cars that are coming close to collision and aggressively beeping horns.

I believe this neighborhood is (especially the residents who live at the top of the intersection) are tired of this happening. The goal here is to raise awareness to the danger of this intersection. We have many residents who jog up this road, and walk their dogs. It is sad to say the number of drivers who are speeding up Ward St Ext. Even though there are Two stop signs on Long Hill Rd, it is a decently bad blind spot. There is really no reason why proper signage directing traffic to slow down, or signaling there is a sharp turn ahead can not be added to the road.

Another issue to be considered lack of side walk area for pedestrians. Especially since this road is used heavily for students.

The goal is to have proper directional signage put in place to hopefully avoid these unnecessary incidents to continue.

I know I’ve already posted this but after reading though comments from the Wallingford Form I’ve done some updating. A lot of the residents do not believe a stop sign is viable due to the road structure. But other signage could very well be implemented.
