Save Wakefield Councils School Crossing Patrols

Wakefield Council have outlined plans to stop funding for School Crossing Patrols across the district.
Under these plans Schools and Academies would be expected to finance their own crossing patrols. However Schools and Academies are not legally permitted to employ their own crossing patrols and would be expected to reimburse the council at cost, which given the financial constraints our education system faces would likely involve the schools having to fundraise, which may be unsuccesful.
We all know the important roles our Lollipop men and women play in keeping our children (and adults) safe on the increasingly busy and dangerous roads, and the difficult position the councils are placing the Schools in will most likely result in the loss of most of not all of our School Crossing staff.
Please sign and share, and show WMDC how much we need our Lollipop Men and Women!
