MSBA should cancel classes and consider holding online classes for the upcoming weeks. There have been seven confirmed cases in North Carolina and our students are returning from all over the world after the spring break, including some high-risk areas such as New York, California, and etc. It is at great risk to hold classes as normal because the novel coronavirus is contagious and airborne.

We understand that coronavirus mainly affects middle-aged and elderly people, but it has been proved by deadly cases that all age level people regardless of being healthy or unhealthy can get infected. More seriously, the coronavirus can cause long-term or even permanent pulmonary damage, including fibrosis.

Even though there has not been a confirmed case among our student body on campus, it would be too late to close the campus when there is one, as the deadly virus has a latent period for up to two weeks. Until now, many universities in the United States have decided to cancel classes and hold online classes. Therefore, we respectfully ask MSBA to cancel classes for the health and wellbeings of students and faculties. Thank you for your support fellow commodores!
