"People/Person/Artist/Writer/Actor/Student of color", "community/communities of color" & all the other terms like them are the updated terms of the old racist term "Colored". Its racism and a sign of devolution. Anyone who uses those terms perpetuates racism.

Changing the name of Wingate Hall should happen as a matter of recognizing the “Black Lives” Sold and Labored to build Wake Forest.

...buildings should inspire, not insult; buildings should make you feel proud, not degraded.

WFU- change your myopic vision! Find the descendants and SAY THEIR NAMES. Create 16 annual scholarships for black families as first step toward reparations. Do more. Do better. Wake Can via Wake Will!

The fact that the name change surely had to go before a board and was approved by several individuals is disgraceful. In this day in time, how any human could even think that this would be okay is unknown to me. I truly hope this is reconsidered and That education is provided to those who made such a decision and called it a good one.

I am a WFU alum (c/o 1999). I agree wholeheartedly. While I support the intent and reasoning behind changing the name, the suggested name actually undermines what is being proposed. Utter fail. Smart people at WFU should know better.

Listen to those who are impacted by this change. Let them choose the new name.

The intent behind the renaming missed the mark. It’s time to try again with the support and input of Black students.

As an alumni I’m embarrassed by the university’s ineptitude in 2021. While remembering history is important and the role the university played; this was not the way to do it.

Wake Forest needs to truly value all students, slavery is not something that America should take pride in. African Americans who attend Wake Forest University, have already broken barriers by attending and graduating from a university that did not value their ancestors. We have to do better America !
