Educate the Students and Staff at Athens Drive High School on Sexual Assault

When we send our children to school we expect a safe learning environment to help them grow into adults. We shouldn't have to worry about the safety of our children but with the recent events that took place on campus, I am starting to worry. Students aren't allowed to carry weapons for protection and that is understandable, but they have no means of protection. The schools security is limited and the teachers and staff don't always have their eyes on the whole building at once. I believe we should have a seminar for the whole school on sexual assaults. Not only the students but also the staff. We have seniors moving on to college where 19% of undergraduate women and 6.1% of undergraduate men reported experiencing completed or attempted sexual assault. We need to keep our Jags safe and the only way to do that is to teach them how to protect themselves and also teach them the serious damage rape does to a victim. We need to teach them the consequences of committing such a violent act so we can stop these assaults from happening.
