We want to ensure the full protection and preservation of the mature Totara trees on the North Eastern fence line of the Waipu Caledonian park.
These trees are destined to be cut down and they have already been marked. 16 Totara from the neighboring property ( Madly Indian restaurant) have already been felled and ringed for fire wood.
These trees provide shade for the park during the hot summers. Especially during the highland dances. When entering Waipu from the northern side they are a welcoming sight and add to the character of Waipu. They are an irreplaceable part of the old Waipu village adding scenic greenery and history to the area.
