Problem
The problem is the use of polypropylene plastic as a heat resistant sealant in local Cork company Barry’s Tea, to help their teabag retain their shape. This is non compostable therefore it is not bio degradable. It also adds to problem of plastic pollution in our ocean.

Solution
We are proposing to convince Barry’s Tea to use biodegradable sealants in their teabags such as companies like Teapig and Clipper already do.

Personal story
We are W3, a TY group in Mount Mercy College, in Cork, Ireland who feel very strongly about the issue of plastic in our teabags
We are W3,
We have been researching Barry’s Tea
You put plastic in your teabags,
Without telling us on the tags.

You broke our trust,
You must change your ways,
It is a must.

We love our tea,
So please listen to me,
We want to be fertile
And save the turtles.

So take this into account
And spread the word about.
