Campaign for VWU to Allow Decorating Graduation Caps

At the moment, Virginia Wesleyan University does not allow "personal adornments of any kind are to be worn on the cap, gown, or hood" as part of the ceremonial dress code for commencement ceremony. As students, we are proud of every accomplishment made here at VWU: from clubs to sports to honor societies to Greek life. We believe that we should have the ability to express ourselves at the biggest event of our undergraduate career: Commencement. With a set of guidelines set to ensure quality control and suitability, seniors would be able to decorate their graduation caps and be allowed to walk for their commencement ceremony. This would show the diversity of Virginia Wesleyan University's graduates and what has mattered to them from their collegiate journey as they show to their family and friends what makes them proud to be a VWU Marlin.
