The election is fast approaching, do you already have a candidate in mind?

Electing a leader is not a multiple-choice question in an exam that you could just guess the answer to. It is something that we should pay close attention to and take the time to look into the candidates who will one day become the President of our nation. It is in the palm of our hands to elect the right and capable person.

The media provides us with information that holds a crucial impact in this time of election. Social media is such a huge platform wherein thoughts, political ideas, and opinions disseminate to various people. The abundance of information may or may not cause misunderstanding and conflicts amongst the individuals who are opposed or agree with the said ideas, thoughts, and opinions. It is not hidden from our knowledge that not every piece of information is true and correct, some of them are misleading and distorted in order to defame or harm the reputation of the other candidate.

There are almost 63 million registered voters for the upcoming election in May and I’m sure that some of them are still undecided on who to vote for. Media and information literacy is an essential competency skill that everyone should apply in this time of election. Individuals must use their critical thinking skills so that they will not be easily swayed by misleading content and be able to vote for the most capable and qualified candidate.
