We request that the Shaker Heights Board of Education Vote No on the proposed Long-Term Facility Plan.

This plan does not address immediate needs of our children and forces quick decisions on closing schools and building new facilities. These decisions have not been fully vetted by the Board or by the Shaker Heights community. The proposed plan doesn’t meaningfully address equity or educational outcomes, is not fiscally responsible, raises questions about prior building maintenance, and does not honor our historic buildings.

A No Vote will provide a critical pause in this process. This will give the Shaker Community, Board of Education, and Shaker Schools Administration the needed time and opportunity for a full and vigorous discussion of a long-term facilities plan.
