Reopen Volusia County, Florida Beaches

Reopen Volusia County, Florida Beaches
Why this petition matters
Volusia County, Florida has large areas of open beach, constant winds and bright sunshine. The beach goers have been using the beaches responsibly since the Spring Break crowds left.
Couples and small family groups have maintained physical separation in excess of the guidelines. This has allowed residents to exercise, get sunlight and fresh air while complying with the state ordered shelter in place order. The county has monitored the beaches from land and air, observing light usage and compliance with guidelines.
The Council, in what can only be described as an act of panic, has closed the beaches without citing one threat to public health. This has resulted in physical and mental health perils for residents.
This petition seeks to request them at the County Council immediately reopen pedestrian access to the beaches and allow residents to engage in the “essential activities” listed in the Governor’s Executive Order
