Visy... recycle your own stench.

Visy... recycle your own stench.
Why this petition matters

Visy’s pulp and paper plant produces a putrid stench likened to rotting meat. The residents of Reservoir are fed up with the company’s blatant violation of environmental laws governing the emissions of foul smells and the EPA’s weak approach in enforcing the Visy empire to take real action to remedy the putrid emissions coming from site.
Visy has received FOUR remedial notices from the EPA since 2020 and even has been fined for arrogantly ignoring the notices. The company however, can afford to do this as a $9,000 fine is a tiny drop in the ocean compared to Anthony Pratt and family empire worth over $24.3 billion.
Simply put, it is far more profitable to pay a small fine, than to fix the problem.
Formal warnings and small fines don’t work against a corporate giant like Visy, we therefore call on the State Minister for Environment and Climate Action, Ms Lily D’Ambrosio MP, to take immediate action against Visy, using her powers as a Minister, to demand that the company cleans up its act and gets rid of the stench once and for all.
We Demand Ms Lily D’Ambrosio MP do the following:
1. Meets with a delegation of affected residents at the gates of the site.
2. Directs the EPA to take stronger action to force Visy to remedy the smell.
3. Uses her Ministerial discretionary powers to suspend Visy’s operating license.
