Virtual Care for ALL Ontarians = ER Relief and Equity
Virtual Care for ALL Ontarians = ER Relief and Equity
Why this petition matters
As of December 1, 2022, access to virtual medical care for Ontarians will be drastically reduced.
It will effectively only be available to those with a primary care physician or to those with a referral to a specialist.
Unfortunately, it will no longer be readily accessible to the approximately 1.5 million Ontarians who don't have a primary care physician and the many more who don't have timely access to one.
This is highly inequitable.
Without access to the virtual care that has been keeping many patients out of the ER, these 1.5 million Ontarians without a primary care doctor and without access to other options will have no choice but to go to the ER.
This will undoubtedly increase the strain on our ERs when there is absolutely no capacity for the ERs to absorb more patients.
If you would like the Ministry of Health to reverse these upcoming changes so that all Ontarians can have equitable access to virtual care and, at the same time, help protect our ERs, please sign and forward this petition.
