On January 7 2022, We were informed by Virginia State University’s Athletic program that no spectators were to be allowed In the Arena until January 22, 2022. We believe this is a cruel and unfair decision to make in light of the ANNUAL MLK FREEDOM CLASSIC GAME between VSU AND Virginia Union on January 15, 2022. This game is not only played with pride between the players but supported with pride throughout each of the school’s students, faculty and alumni. We believe providing a NEGATIVE covid result at least 72-48 hours before the game IN ADDITION TO THE VACCINATION AND MASKS MANDATES will be efficient in preventing the spread of COVID-19 and also allowing everyone to participate and enjoy an event that has took place for many years.
