Parents that wish to relocate out of the state of Virginia are not able to do so with a "common child" if the other biological parent lives in Virginia. Many people move to Virginia to support their spouse's career. My ex-husband is Navy and since he is stationed here my daughter's and I are forced to stay here even though our entire family lives in Ohio. The laws here prevent us from moving home even though that's where my girls want to be. My ex husband had inappropriate contact with my older daughter(not his child) and now she suffers from PTSD because of the situation. I have been to the JD&R court and the Circuit court trying to get permission to relocate WITH both of my girls.
