Pass Alyssa's Law In The State of Virginia
An investigation after the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School Shooting indicated that one of the major causes of loss of life that day was the delay of first responders and law enforcement. Silent Panic Alarm Systems will guarantee that the proper emergency personnel will be alerted and at the scene immediately. Supporting this issue is of utmost importance because no student should have their safety compromised by going to school, and no parent should have to send their child to school and wonder if they are ever coming home. Alyssa’s Law is a law that requires public schools to have a silent panic alarm system installed. This will be used to immediately alert law enforcement and first responders to the campus during an active shooting or any other life threatening emergency. Alyssa’s Law was named after Alyssa Alhadeff, a 14-year-old student who was shot and killed during the Marjory Stoneman Douglas Shooting. Alyssa's Law has been passed in Florida and New Jersey and has been introduced to the states of New York, Nebraska, Arizona and Texas. We the people must push to make the change in our country and it starts with each one of us. Help us fight for the safety of Virginia's schools, students and teachers.
