Why this petition matters

Started by Wesley Gross

The western part of Virginia is covered in national forest land all throughout the Appalachian mountains where anyone can venture out into the wilderness and camp, reconnecting with nature and escape the burden of modern life. Unfortunately, our state parks and state forests are off limits to overnight wilderness camping, forcing Virginians to pack up and drive several hours, burning countless gallons of fuel to simply enjoy the peace of camping in the forest.

What I propose is that the Governor Youngkin instruct the Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation and the Virginia Department of Forestry to adopt the policy of the National Park Service and National Forestry service to allow true primitive camping in all Virginia state parks and forests. Give the good people of Virginia unadulterated access to nature.
