Parents were given the option to put our kids in virtual school or face to face in June when our covid numbers were basically nothing. Our numbers our too high and with the new variant more and more kids are getting sick. There are already numerous schools that have hundreds of kids in quarantine and high positive cases. Dare county alone reported 299 kids in quarantine and 79 positive covid cases. We as parents do not feel safe for our children. We should not have to be worried sending our kids to school. Please consider this petition and open up a virtual option for our children. 

I will also edit to add I know not everyone agrees with this decision and not every child did well with virtual. My child has autism and has an IEP. He does not do well with changes in routine. For him he stayed virtual the entire year last year because I was worried about going back and forth from F2F to virtual. He did wonderful with virtual had I known the numbers would be this high again I would have put him in Virtual Virginia, but he also lacked socialization and regressed tremendously because of no socialization. I understand fully wanting our kids to be face to face but for the parents who don't feel safe with the numbers or are worried about breaking routines or kids bringing covid home we need an option. We need something. Not just a wait and see.
