Anya Gudorf started this petition to Villanova students

Villanova released their schedule for the 2020 academic school year and welcomed students back to campus in August. The schedule for both semesters is uninterrupted and does not give students days off during the semester. I understand that this is due to COVID-19 and public health concerns, but students' mental health is being negatively impacted without a break from classes. I am petitioning the University to set aside one class day a month as a mental health day for students and professors.

The class format has also raised mental health concerns as zoom-fatigue is impacting many students and hindering motivation. Hybrid and in-person classes struggle to be as engaging as they have been in the past, and the result is students have to spend more time attempting to grasp concepts and search for outside help.

Students just completed midterm exams for the fall semester and are struggling without a fall break. Completing midterms usually brings relief to students as they look forward to a much-needed break from classes and the stress it brings. The additional stress and anxiety from living in a global pandemic must also be taken into account. Students are already struggling because of the change in their daily lives and the sadness of a traditional college experience being lost this academic year. Therefore, mental health days are imperative to ensuring students can take care of themselves by having a day to practice self-care instead of focusing on academic work.
