No Hidden Ponds started this petition to Village of Wauconda

Stop the K. Hovnanian “Hidden Ponds” development of 151 new homes from destroying our neighborhood, schools, parks, trees and wetlands.

Wauconda residents are opposed to the new development “Hidden Ponds” near the north east corner of Fairfield and Gilmer Roads. The concept plan showing 151 homes, presented on December 3, 2019 is not suitable for this location.  This will have negative effects on property values, create overcrowding of the schools, parks and roads.  It will also have adverse environmental impacts, and is a change in the land use plan. We encourage you to sign this petition against this development.

As a Wauconda resident who lives in Liberty Lakes subdivision off Gilmer Road, this “Hidden Ponds” development scares us. It is important that the concerns of residents like us be heard and addressed. Please sign the Petition!

Here is why you should join us in this petition:

Property Values: Our property values continue to drop. The surrounding properties are zoned agricultural. This re-zoning change can result in property values going down.

Schools: This development could add 250 or more new students, which will further increase our already high classroom sizes in elementary, intermediate and middle schools.

Parks: Why is there is no park in this proposed community? The wait times in our parks to play on the basketball and tennis courts will further increase.

Roads: There is only one access road which leads directly onto Gilmer Road. School buses carrying these students (of all ages) will need access during morning rush hour as well as in the afternoon rush hour.

Environment: The destruction of 10 or more acres of 80+ year old oak and hickory trees that are essential for all life. These trees enhance and add to the area’s character and pleasant environment. The potential pollution and destruction of  the wetlands which will affect clean water, wildlife, local ecosystems and the whole environment.

Our mayor and trustees work for us. They are our representatives and are supposed to look out for our well-being, safety, and community. Our mayor and trustees need to know that we, the voters, oppose this development.

Be heard, and Sign the Petition today.  Do not donate money.

Thank you!
