Show the Village of Mortlach that people love our Metal Fence!

A major reason that we bought the Little Red Market Café was that we loved the look, security, safety feature, and lighting provided by the Metal Art Sign Fence in front of the building. There is no proper street lighting on our road, the sidewalk is in dangerous disrepair, and not having a barrier means people park their cars only a couple feet from the door, causing safety and health issues for our customers, as well as people on the sidewalk. Furthermore, the fence protects the business from smash and grab robberies, as have been on the rise at rural liquor stores and restaurants recently. We were not informed by the Village of Mortlach that it was an issue until after we had committed to the purchase.
The Village had an agreement with the previous owner to allow it to stay in place forever, and when we found out about it, we assumed the deal would stay the same.
Since then, the Village has rebuffed all our attempts to keep it as is, including now sending a lawyer’s letter to remove it.
We ask that you sign this petition to ask the Village of Mortlach to hold a referendum vote asking the people of Mortlach to decide if the Metal Art Sign Fence should be allowed to stay.
We, the undersigned, are concerned citizens who urge our leaders to adopt a bylaw to allow the Little Red Market Café, (101304439 Saskatchewan LTD) to keep the Metal Art Sign Fence to remain on the portion of Village property in front of the restaurant, with the same conditions that were allowed the previous owners of the property.
