I heard Rodeo this Friday Is exciting and offers us a good chance to understand what Texas is about. However, due to the COVID-19, I hope the school can cancel the Rodeo trip for juniors ELL students this Friday.

There is a case of COVID-19 in Houston, and there are in total 159 cases in the US, and 11 people died. Although there is a low chance of getting it, I do not want to risk it. It is not because I am not confident about my health, but it is because in January Chinese students just experienced the EXACT same situation in China. Please listen to the advice from Chinese students, because now we might witness the same process happening in Texas: how things could go worse if we participate in a crowded event. Chinese students know how to protect ourselves, by simply avoiding participating in a crowded event like the Rodeo this friday in order to protect ourselves.

Most ELL students are residential students. In the dorm, eight people live in the same suite, so it would be extremely easy for the virus to spread if anyone gets the virus in the Rodeo. We can not risk the health of the entire dorm just for participating in the Rodeo. Rodeo is a yearly event, while the Coronavirus is just temporary. I am very willing to participate in  the Rodeo next year, but this year, as a consideration of my health, I do not want to go.

Therefore, I hope you could understand that we do not want to participate in this Friday event . There are a few alternative options if we do not want to go. We are willing to read some articles about the Rodeo and the history of Houston, and interviews some people who have been there before.
