Climate Change is changing the world for the worse, with that a Global Environmental Revolution is taking shape, led by environmental revolutionaries, and the next generation who seem to be affected by it the most. In the last decade, India has been a witness to extreme Environmental Degradation which is now transforming into a huge public health issue. The biggest statistical evidence for this lies in the Environmental Performance Index, where India was ranked the fourth-worst country in the world standing at 177 out of 180. Five years ago, India was ranked 155. India's air pollution woes are so detrimental that the toxic air claimed 1.24 million lives in 2017 which makes up 12.5 percent of total deaths recorded that year. MORE INDIANS DIED DUE TO POLLUTION THAN CANCER, TUBERCULOSIS, AIDS AND DIABETES PUT TOGETHER. India is home to 15 of the world's 20 most polluted cities. With issues like these, the future of Indian children is uncertain as respiratory ailments are increasing among kids. Despite, such alarming statistics, the mood of the Indian Government towards Environmental Conservation is pretty negligent. With pollution killing 1 out of every 8 people in India, it has developed into a massive public health issue. Through this petition, we as the next generation of Indian voters must pressurise as well as encourage our lawmakers to immediately act upon this issue to build a secure future for Indian Citizens. There is an urgent need to divert from topics like vote-bank politics and religion focussed policy making to topics like Climate Change and Environmental Conservation. If not tackled immediately, millions of people will die, thousands of families displaced and the future of a whole generation compromised.
