The responsibility of the school corporation is to provide our children with the best possible education to succeed in life. The responsibility of parents is to decide the best health and safety measures for our children. This petition goes beyond a mask and is about us parents having the right to choose and about our children receiving the best education possible and they can't get that with a mask. 
VCSC has taken it upon themselves to determine what is the best health and safety measures for OUR children WITHOUT our approval rather than determine the best and most effective way to educate our children. This is outrageous.
We, as parents, have the RIGHT and RESPONSIBILITY to determine what is best for our children and we have been stripped of those rights. Masking should be left to each individual parent or caretaker and NOT left up to the school corporation. They (VCSC) are more concerned with masks than with actually educating our children the best way possible. 
Studies have shown children who are excited and eager to attend school learn and retain more education compared to children who dread going to school and right now all children are dreading going to school because of this ridiculous mask mandate put forth by the corporation. Our teachers should focus on teaching and NOT being mask police. Our children fiddle with their masks all day which leads to less attention being paid to actual school work. Masks also hide emotions and children need to see emotions. Also, children with speech issues are only hurt worse by masks because they are unable to talk clearly which leads to worsen speech! 
We, as parents, not only deserve but also have the right and responsibility to determine what is best for our children’s health and it is OUR RIGHT to determine if our children need to wear a mask, NOT the corporations! 
Science has already proven children are not nearly as prone to the virus as adults and children carry the lowest rate of transmitting the virus so this mandate is not only ridiculous but is going against the PROVEN science. 
Us parents are demanding the Vigo County School Corporation change their policy to pro choice and let us parents decide if we want our children wearing masks.
