Multiple cities in the State of California have a form of youth representation in local leadership (such as a Youth Commission or Youth Advisory Council). The city of Victorville has no adequate form of youth representation in our local government. The city of Victorville needs to create a Victorville Youth Advisory Council to advise the Mayor and City Council on youth-related issues.    

In 2010, 38,023 (32.8%) of the Victorville population were people under the age of 18 and 12,136 (10.5%) were of the ages 18-24. The youth of this city consists of at least an estimate of 50,000 citizens. This means 50,000 people of this city are not having their voices represented properly. 

Providing a Youth Advisory Council for the city of Victorville is a solution to this problem. The role of the Youth Advisory Council is to advise the City Council and Mayor of Victorville on laws and props that relate to young people. The Victorville City Council currently consists of 5 members, because of this the Youth Advisory Council should consist of 4-5 members.
