Michael Marshall started this petition to Victorian Premier and

To his Excellency the premier of Victoria Daniel Andrews.

Whilst I understand the needs for heartbreaking restrictions on travel and many many businesses, I feel that the closure of on-site IT repair is going to put additional pressures on those already trying to navigate working from home.

The argument can certainly be made that travelling technical repair would be able to fix certain problems with systems, a large section of repairs can only be performed at a dedicated service centre.

This not only applies to PCs and Max but also many different types of mobile phones which are extremely vital for communication not only for working people but for those who wish to communicate with their family members.

I believe that with the use of couriers, no on site access for non-technical personnel and a Covid safe plan, many on-site IT repair centres could operate even at reduced capacity which would be better than nothing for those that have unexpected breakdowns.

The fact is, if someone is working a 9-to-5 job from home and a computer system breaks down, they could very easily lose their job.

With 250,000 people already being laid off along with the additional people that have lost out during the entire pandemic in Melbourne, I beg you to at least give this proposal consideration.

I know there are a lot worse things going on, I know people are dying, the frontline workers are under incredible pressure but I truly believe that an additional layer of anxiety could be removed from anyone working from home if they at least knew that they could courier a device  to a service centre and have it repaired as quickly as possible.
