Demand safe living accommodations for people experiencing homelessness in Melbourne

This petition had 32 supporters

Homelessness in Melbourne is a huge problem that affects everyone everywhere. According to a study in 2011, there were 105,237 experiencing homelessness in Australia. In the past two years, homelessness in Melbourne has increased by a staggering 70%. By signing our petition, you are giving people a chance at a new life in a safe, permanent living accommodation that can help them get back on their feet.

Having a stable home is integral because it is a right to every citizen. Everyone should have the freedom to adequate housing, regardless of their income amount or their class.

We all need to have a home in order to have stability in our lives, maintain our relationships and feel a sense of belonging and safety.

Unfortunately, a lot of social and economical factors come into play and lead to housing inadequacy and homelessness. The issues range from lack of unaffordable housing and unemployment, to mental and physical health problems. Homelessness is also caused by family and domestic violence, which forces men, women and children out of their homes and to an unsafe and unsuitable environment.

So please, in any way you can, help us demand that Victorian Government Officials acknowledge the issues of homelessness in Melbourne, and provide safe living accommodations for citizens that are sleeping rough.
