Wildlife care and rehabilitation is not based solely on a policy of species preservation. It is erroneous and inhumane to deny care to injured wildlife on the grounds that they are not members of an at-risk or diminished numbers species. I urge you to prioritise the humane care of all injured animals in your consideration of any new policies around wildlife shelters.

We need to protect our native wildlife not destroy it. As a carer I believe it is cruel not to show these animals compassion and help them when they’ve just witnessed something traumatic, like their mother being killed. Otherwise all these beautiful animal will end up like the Tasmanian tiger, a memory. I do not want that to happen
