If the rational behind the change is to prevent interested parties (especially potential high fee paying candidates overseas) from being confused, then the "confused" simply aren't bright enough to enrol at VUW let alone graduate.
I am signing it because I care about history and culture. This rose smells as sweet by its name, so let it be VUW as it has always been in history and in people's hearts and minds.
Tena tatou. As a former member of Council I wish to record my support to keep the name Victoria University of Wellington. I also want to acknowledge the people I served alongside, many have since passed on, they were outstanding, loyal and proud to be associated with Victoria. We didn't agree on a number of issues especially when setting student fees. But we belonged to Victoria and that was what kept us working on kaupapa.
The behaviour of the university council over this matter is that of egomaniacs or brats. They want their own way and importantly, they want others to pay. The views of the public and even alumni don't matter. If they persist, make them pay all legal costs for their name change from their own salaries. Oh and sack Guilford.
I am a graduate of VUW (BSc 1973, Hons 1974, MSc 1975) and do not agree with the name change. I have not been aware of any consultation about this and have seen any compelling arguments for it.
If they persist, make them pay all legal costs for their name change from their own salaries. Oh and sack Guilford.
weak,indeed contemptible.
