Zac Paul started this petition to Victoria Police

A 16 year old girl was set upon by up to 8 females severely beating her at Southern Cross station on Tuesday the 16th of June. The footage was captured by the attackers and posted to SNAPCHAT for the world to see. The sickening attack happened in broad daylight with CCTV at the station.

The young girl did not fight back, was sitting on a chair with her drink, whilst several kicks and punches to her head. She suffered horrendous injuries, to her head, broken ribs and cuts inside her mouth.

Too scared to report to police in fear of further beating, the girl's mother called the police to report. The police stated they could not do anything without victims statements.

When did victims of assault have to lodge a statement when video evidence of the attached exists. Based on Victorian Police logic, how would murder victims lodge a statement.

This needs to change.

Victorian Police must investigate all assaults without the need for a victim statement when video evidence exists.

We need to protect our society and provide reassurance that any assault will be investigated without the need of a victim statement.
