David Piercy started this petition to Victoria City Hall

Stop the Richardson Street Bike lane changes.

All families need to travel in the easiest possible manner to and from school, work and daily scheduled events. Commutes are becoming less direct and causing more GHG's to be expelled in to the air.

Recent and planned changes to road way systems by the City of Victoria are creating traffic congestion and blockages throughout the City and neighbouring municipalities. The effect of these changes is more side street traffic and changing quieter residential streets in to main thoroughfares. The changes currently under review have only approximately 600 respondents giving feedback. We need to stop the process of these changes and actually put it to a full collaborative vote in the municipality. The City is spending recklessly for a pet project.

I have but one question for Victoria City Council about current and planned bike lanes: Can you actually prove, with unbiased data, that the bike lanes are actually decreasing GHG emissions and not increasing them via car/delivery/transit congestion? Even setting aside the wasted $30 Million+ cost for a moment (only 10-20% of which is covered by gas tax, the rest is taxpayer money), if your idealistic actions are accomplishing the exact opposite of your intentions why do you continue to pursue this hypocrisy? If we are wrong on that, PROVE IT!

Stop the Bike lane changes.
