The closure of Elsternwick golf course is a golden opportunity to improve this intersection. Widening the left turn in to Glenhuntly rd would improve traffic flow on the highway, including bus 246. The intersection of New st and the Highway is a huge bottleneck. A footbridge from the Caltex service station across to Glenhuntly rd would give pedestrians safe passage. It is currently very difficult, if not impossible, to cross 11 lanes of traffic in one cycle.
