I am wanting to take my name off of this petition, I hit the button by accident. I am a former firefighter who understands that some fires are planned to help prevent the large catastrophic fires. Fire personnel should be highly respected because there is a lot of hard work and tough decision making involved each day, these folks are highly dedicated, sometimes spending weeks at a time in remote areas away from their families. Let’s all prevent wildfires as Mr. Smokey Bear’s helpers. Take responsibility for your cigarette butts and be especially careful with fire.

Although it is necessary to take action to prevent crown wildfires caused by the cycle of unnatural fire suppression, it is also not a solution to be starting large fires releasing smoke containing toxic chemicals and greenhouse gases that cause climate change. Instead, dry material on the forest floor should be physically removed, and the Forest Service must end its practice of clearcutting that causes forests to become more vulnerable to wildfire.

Please, take a moment to read this. Guys this is part of the natural cycle, and this saves lives. Controlled burns must be done or else wildfires destroy millions of acres, uncontrolled until they destroy towns and farms. Please keep controlled burns happening, it is normal and accepted in most other nations, go and see for yourself. It prevents wildfires even in countries with rainy and dry seasons where areas that do not use controlled burns suffer terrible losses every few years. Thank you for your time.

Burning to clean or reforestation is out dated and can be handed like it was in the 1980s it worked well this way of doing business was a temporary trial it is causing super fires that cannot be controlled and are not good for the forests they need to follow the forestry plans that were in place in the late seventies our forests were in beautiful shape then and we had clean air and didn’t have super fires that were uncontrollable
