To whom may concern,

We are a group of students who wish to contribute our efforts to stop COVID-19 from the total outbreak in the UK.

We have already known that the Coronavirus is a highly contagious epidemic disease that caused over 90,000 confirmed cases and 3,000 death.  Up to 5/3/2020, there are 116 confirmed cases and 1 death in the UK and Hampshire has its own confirmed cases. What we can do now is avoiding gatherings so that the virus will not spread from person to person.

We have seen the severe consequence of gathering events brought to the population in China, South Korea, Italy, Iran and we hope to prevent similar scenarios from happening again in UK. According to Public Health England, we’ve been informed that schools and universities have to keep open and operate as normal. As students, we show understanding of this. However, due to the assessment plan, several presentations(as part of module assessments) will be taking place in the following 2-3 weeks and lectures still taking on. These group meetings or compulsory classes for presentation tests will highly increase the risk of spreading the virus as students can’t avoid contact and meeting with each other on campus. When facing such serious Coronavirus condition, we feel stressed and highly uncertain about these. So it is believed that Soton could take action to make some changes to these. Efficient and adaptable suggestions given by us are as follows:

1、We respect and support lectures taking on the campus, but suggest all lectures being recorded to be viewed online as before and the quality of recorded lectures need to be ensured.

2、We also respect and support that our examinations could also be given on line and the marks counted as usual if in May the UK is still under the risk and school do not change the exam plan.
