As a person with a disability who uses an electric wheelchair, I should be able to take the train like anyone else. Plain and simple. I should be able to travel with any friend who I choose - whether or not they use their own assistive device. At the present time, I cannot ride VIA rail in my wheelchair at the same time as my friends who also use wheelchairs. We need to take different trains at different times to the same destination. We cannot ride together.
People with mobility disabilities deserve the same access to rail travel as those who can walk. Right now, we are charged the same fares but do not have access to the same level of service. This is unjust.
