To preface, I don’t want to cause any harm or slander towards our janitors.

This is about my concern regarding the lack of sanitation in the school restrooms. There has been multiple occasions when there has been empty soap dispensers and no toilet paper. Unfortunately, this issue is not just a one time thing. Days go by without the restrooms being restocked. For the district buying these new automatic soap dispensers, they are not being properly put to use. Currently, the majority of restrooms have not been restocked since Tuesday (Currently: Friday March 4th). This has been a current and ongoing problem, where at some point, there was no soap for a whole week. This could lead to many health hazards for students regarding Covid Safety requirements. Just imagine the vast spreading of COVID-19 in that week alone.

As of March 4th, 2022: The superintendent of SAUSD changed the requirement of masks to be ‘Highly Recommended’, starting March 14th, this alongside the lack of antiseptic products could pose a hazardous danger or threat to not only VHS students, but those they may come in contact with. 

Not mentioning the cleaning methods used for the restrooms, specifically the lockeroom bathrooms, I have witnessed the janitor using the same rag and water to clean the toilets and sinks. This is a serious contamination hazard that spreads bacteria from toilets to sinks and vice versa. This brings me to the next issue, VHS bathrooms have no toilet seat covers. Toilet covers can ultimately put students mind at ease and reduce the spread of germs. Not to mention, every school that I have been to has them. Which makes me wonder, why does VHS go against this?
