Cabot Rec Volleyball League for High Scool Girls

0 have signed. Let’s get to 500!

I am hoping to get a volleyball league started in the Cabot community for high school aged girls. Cabot parks and rec currently offers the program to girls 3-9 grades, but then cuts off. I've put a lot of thought into this idea this past year. I've been coaching volleyball here for the last 4 seasons and have had the pleasure of having one particular girl on my team throughout the course of my time here. When I realized that this coming spring season would be her last if something didn't change, I knew I had to do something. Cabot is a pretty large school with only one high school team to fill. This leaves a lot of girls who have been playing previous seasons of rec ball or even school ball with a small and nerve racking chance to make that one team. I'd like to change this for various reasons. I want all the girls who want to be involved to have that chance. Optimistically, I'd love there to be a second opportunity. Starting the older age group would give the girls accountability at an age they desperately need it, and would also provide friendships and bonds to help transition them through this stage of their lives. What stays near to my heart the most is the fact that these girls need mentors. I've met some wonderful people because of this program and have been able to be there for girls in situations a lot of people don't even know they've gone through. Volleyball is a wonderful outlet for young women and I am hoping that by showing enough interest, we can make this a reality. If playing the sport or being a future parent or coach of this applies to you, then please take the time to sign.
