Support Act 166 Vermont Universal PreK

In 2014 Vermont passed Act 166, Universal PreKindergarten. This program has been invaluable to my family and many Vermont families who find themselves challenged with securing affordable, quality childcare. In many cases one partner's income is barely break even or less, forcing the family to make the decision for one partner to stay at home. This can be devastating to career trajectories and pulls talented, motivated people out of the workforce that may not wish to do so. Act 166 helped to alleviate this burden just enough to make the decision a choice rather than a necessity.
Proposed changes to Act 166 are in early talks in Vermont's House of Education, making it less Universal and more restricted. In a time where our state is challenged with retaining a talented workforce and creating a sustainable economy, this is not the time to diminish this important benefit. It is critical to so many hard-working families and to the success and happiness of our children.
If you agree please sign this petition to show your support of Act 166. Let our dedicated government officials know that we care and we are paying attention.
