Keep Vermont Technical College Randolph Campus to support the Vermont Economy and Industry

The recent decision of Chancellor Spaulding to close the Randolph campus of VTC is shortsighted. VTC is FIRST in Vermont for return on investment for a reason. That reason is the hands on instruction that the students receive there. That hands on component is what makes VTC graduates prepared to step into the workforce and perform at top levels from the get go. Uprooting the heart of those programs and trying to transfer them to Williston or remote locations will negatively impact the readiness of students to perform in the workplace. While every instructor is doing the best that they can during this school shutdown, I believe that most if not all would agree that the quality of what is being offered throughout this time has suffered. The students at VTC are largely hands on learners, and the trades that they are learning require actual practice, not just watching a video of someone else performing a task. Closing the Randolph campus will gut those programs and contribute to a further decline in the skilled workforce we need in Vermont.  Thank you for taking the time to read this.
